About Nari Kallyan Shangho
Nari Kallyan Shangho (NKS) was set up in June 1987 in Edinburgh by a group of Bangladeshi women who wanted to have a place where they could meet regularly and provide their community with services. They secured premises on Dalry Road where the project ran from for many years. One of the first things that they set up was the playgroup, which has over the years grown into the NKS Childcare Facility of today. The project grew to include women and their families from Bangladeshi, Indian and Pakistani origin. In 1996 NKS moved to the current premises in Darroch Annexe. Many different groups run at NKS over the week and the organisation provides them with innovative and life enhancing activities.
